Meet the Owner

Darnita Fleming is the founder and Executive Director of AdvoKare, an organization that supports parents and professionals with resources, tools, and coaching, with a special focus on meeting the needs of Black and Brown children with disabilities.

Mrs. Fleming holds an Associates of Arts degree with a concentration of Human Services Management from the University of Phoenix, equipping her to work in such fields as Child Advocate, School Counselor, and Social Worker to name a few. She is also a member of COPAA (The Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates) where their mission is to protect and enforce the legal and civil rights of students with disabilities and their families.

Mrs. Fleming also has over a decade of experience working with children of various abilities starting at preschool age to middle school age children. However her most rewarding job has been being a mother to her 3 beautiful and tenacious daughters who are on the Autism Spectrum. This role has provided her with immeasurable knowledge, understanding, and love for all families living with children with a disability. Mrs. Fleming didn’t have a large village of people to help her along this journey or even understand what she and her family faced. She credits her strength for her motherhood journey to her faith in God, the presence her loving and committed husband, and unwavering support of her mother(and father). This fact was one of the driving forces for her deciding to be a support to other families like hers. It is also the reason she finds it beyond fulfilling to stand in the gap for those that find themselves in this journey.
